Registering with a PRO

Performing Rights Organizations collect performance royalties for songwriters.

publishingroyaltiespro

A Performing Rights Organization (PRO) — such as ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, SOCAN, or PRS depending on your country — collects public-performance royalties when your songs are streamed, played on radio, or performed live. Register as a writer (and, if you own your publishing, as a publisher), then register each of your works so performances can be matched and paid. This is separate from the recording royalties your distributor handles, and separate from mechanical/publishing royalties.
