Understanding ISRCs

An ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) uniquely identifies a specific recording of a track. It follows plays and sales across platforms, which is how streams and downloads are counted and attributed to you. Most distributors assign ISRCs automatically at upload; if you manage your own, you can obtain a registrant code from your national ISRC agency and assign codes yourself. Assign one ISRC per distinct recording (a remix or re-record gets its own), keep a record of every code, and make sure the same recording is not issued multiple conflicting ISRCs.
